Recently Paul, Julie & I embarked on a little journey that had me traveling on the lovely BC Ferries. The ferry system is a much used source of transportation in my family and after not having traveled on them for a while I have to admit I was glad I did. It's not the "Oh so lovely cuisine" I miss or the lack of seating on a Sunday 5pm ferry that is inundated with UVic students returning from a weekend on the mainland. It is how beautiful BC is, and how the ferries let you view it for a small penny. I have not mastered the art of standing outside, while feeding Paul & taking pictures yet, but I wish I had. As our ferry left the shot across to Galiano island was incredible as the cloud line was so low it was as if the clouds were kissing the ocean. It was very serene and peaceful, two words that generally describe how I feel when I am amongst the islands.
People ask me when we will move back to Canada, and every time I answer honestly , and that is that I don't really know. No matter where our adventures take us, and I have a feeling that my homeland of Tim Hortons & Hockey might be later rather then sooner, I know that I will always need to be on the ocean. And the feelings of ease that I do feel when I look out at the gulf islands will play a huge part in my sanity in my years to come.
