Motivation

For the last ten years I have developed a bizarre "reading habit". I go through periods where I don't read a book for months, either by choice of just not being interested or by frustration of just not being able to find anything that can grab hold of me for longer then 4 four pages. When this period happens I suddenly get very anxious and decide to remedy the situation immediately. The only way I know how to do this is to read "She's Come Undone" by Wally Lamb, every time. For some reason this book pulls me in and gets me back into the habit of reading every night, without a hesitation. I can't figure out if it is the story or his writing style or a combination of both. But whatever it is, it works every single time I hit the wall. I will pull the book of the shelf, blast through it in less then a week and then my mind is fully energized to take on other stories and titles that have been gathering dust on my book shelf. I have no idea why I have to undergo this process or why this is the story that makes it all click in my brain but I have given up questioning it. After all this is at least my 6th attempt at this process, and the success rate is an amazing 100%.
